About us

Mountain biker riding Wild Mustang Trail

We’re a small locally owned bike shop located near the base of Mount Lemmon in sunny Tucson, Arizona. Our goal here is to get people stoked on riding bikes. ALL of the bikes. We want to make sure local Tucsonans and visitors alike have everything they need to keep on ridin’.

We’re here to support you, your bike(s), and the Tucson cycling community.

Who we are

Earlybird Bikes was started by the dynamic duo known as Helen and Kyle, but Kyle is the one you’ll usually see in the shop. Kyle initially caught the bike shop bug when he was just a BMX kid who hung out in the local shop until they eventually let him start putting bikes together in the back. Later on after college and working some “real” jobs he made the jump back into the cycling industry and slowly learned the art of the bike shop until it was clear the next step would be to open up a new shop in their adopted town of Tucson.

Along with knowing the ins and outs of bike shops and having tons of riding experience, Kyle has mechanic certifications from companies like Shimano and Specialized, and continuously dedicates time to completing new trainings to stay on top of the complexities of modern bike repair. You can be sure that when you come into Earlybird Bikes, you’re going to get knowledgeable and friendly service.

Road Cyclist rides up Mt Lemmon in the morning
  • Riding in the Sonoran Desert summers requires getting out early, like 5AM early. It’s not uncommon to see hundreds of riders out in the early AM and none around noon. We are not anti-sunset rides though.

  • Almost certainly.

  • Absolutely. We are out riding as much as possible when not running the shop.If you want updated trail conditions or recommendations for a road route, just ask.
